That title sounds funny doesn't it? It reminds me of the pro-life slogan "Choose life." But I'm not speaking about abortion here, just people in general.
Lydia has started basketball practice and I went to pick her up a little early. I had just enough time to read a chapter in my book but I decided to go into the gym to watch her and speak to one the moms that was there. The moment I said hello, I was so glad I had come inside. This sweet friend was so encouraging and uplifting to me, even though I think she felt a little down herself. We were able to share God's Word with each other and encouragement about parenting. She definitely made me thankful to be there and to be her friend.
Another time I was at Kroger and in a bit of a hurry when I saw an elderly lady I hadn't seen in quite a while. I approached her to say hi and left the conversation encouraged and glad that I took the time to stop and talk to her and find out about her life.
So, the next time that you have the choice to speak to someone or go another way - stop and speak. Choose that person over your time, your book, your awkward feelings, your own convenience. You could be a blessing to her and who knows, maybe God has a blessing waiting for you too.
