Two Days in Our Life With A Corn Patch

While all of the other girls were at Nana's house and camp, guess what happened? The corn got ready, and you know, corn doesn't wait for extra helpers to come home.  So Ray pulled and shucked very early in the mornings and Rachel and I worked all day putting it up.  I wish I knew how many ears we did but with no little girls helping and Abigail not helping, I'm glad to get these pictures.

Because Ray does such a good job with the shucks and silks, washing is the easy job.
Rachel worked best with the corn cutting tool, but I couldn't figure it out and just cut myself. I had to use a small paring knife.
This part of the process always reminds me of when my mom and aunts use to work together filling freezers. I'm afraid I wasn't as much help as I should have been back then.
Done!

And on to the butter peas. We put ten jars of salsa and are in the process of a bushel of butter peas. And yes, I have a bleeding callous right now form shelling.
