On Tuesday morning Ray woke up and said, "I think the Bailey's are on the way to our house." They are our dear friends from Florida and I was so excited that I jumped up and started picking up. (I don't keep my whole house "company ready" all the time.) It turned out that they were not on their way, but through a series of phone calls they did get here by 9:00 that night. I had not told the girls they were coming so while we were sitting at the kitchen table playing a game, Charissa walked into the dining room. They had pulled in the lower driveway and came in through the basement door. Hannah was so over come she just cried. What a wonderful surprise!! Our girls pair off with their children and have a great time together. They have their traditions of Sour Skittles, Cheese Nips, midnight movies and secrets. We parents have our times of talking and visiting, catching up and admonishing one another. Dawn is a great example of a kind and submissive wife while David is the honored leader of their family. One of our girls made the comment how they have never heard their children say anything negative about their parents. Thanks be to God to give us good friends that are close by and those we can see only a couple of times a year. I pray that all of our friendships will be honoring to God and help us to sharpen each other.
This past week the kids enjoyed things like - dissecting a pig's heart, making homemade Chinese food, the opening day of "Prince Caspian", card games, chasing our chickens all over the backyard, a silly string fight, Cranium, Latin class, a chocolate fountain slumber party, making cookies, and trying to hide from each other to get time alone with their special friend to talk.
