Protecting Marriage, Part 3

Speaking of not being idle read Proverbs 31:17. Let’s think about our physical bodies. Our society gives these images of beautiful model type figures that we should all starve ourselves to be. I’m asking you – are you staying physically fit for your husband? Forget Hollywood, think about him. Does he like the way you look? Do you eat healthy and exercise? I’m not talking about hours at a gym somewhere, just physical exercise. I usually walk for exercise, but there are plenty of ways to get that time in if you really want to. Read the first part of I Timothy 4:8. There is some profit there. Read I Corinthians 6:19. This section of scripture is speaking to immorality specifically, but the principle can be applied to food too. There is no formal food and exercise program written out in Scripture, but there are plenty of examples of being disciplined and orderly. Read I Corinthians 9:24-27. This is an example of physical exercise being used to discipline the body. And a disciplined body and lifestyle helps to protect marriage.

The reason to stay physically fit is because your body is not your own – I Corinthians 7:2-4 Intimacy is a duty – a delightful duty.

When you give back to your husband what is rightfully his why not include your mind and heart? If your mind isn’t joyful, then change it. If your heart isn’t joyful then do it any way. Pray that God would use you in a godly way to be pleasing to your husband and have a joyful intimate life.

This is an amazing way to protect your marriage. Read I Corinthians 7:5.
