Another point of interest is Proverbs 31:11. What does that mean? Can your husband trust you in your speech? Does it mean that when you are talking your husband is cringing? Can he trust you to keep your tongue under control? Proverbs is packed with verses to help us understand how important it is for us to keep our speech in check. Read Proverbs 23:16; 25:24, 8-13; 26:20-21; 29:20. What about when you are talking to others? Do your slight of hand remarks cause him grief? Do you use public conversations to make comments that would be better saved for a private time with your husband? There are plenty of opportunities to not only use self control, but also build up your husband. Look at the second portion of Proverbs 31:11. You can use your words to build him up. Don’t be the foolish woman who tears down her own house with her dripping faucet, but be the wise woman who builds it up with her own hands.
Speaking of building- let’s move to the next point- hard work. Titus 2 mentions being a worker at home, but also look at the Proverbs 31 lady. She is a hard worker and an entrepreneur. I work hard at home and am trying to train my girls to do the same. We have this joke that all I do is sit around and eat bon bons. One of the girls asked, “What do you do all day since we have so many chores?” I think some of them learned what I do when I broke my ankle this summer. Read Proverbs 24:30-33; 28:19. Work hard to keep your home a haven for your husband. Find out what bugs him then take care of it. Ray has few demands around our house. He would like for the den and kitchen to stay presentable in case someone drops in, but other than that he doesn’t ask much. He likes bread and tea at meals, so I try to have those things. These aren’t demands, just things I know he likes. For your husband he may want a deer head mounted over the fireplace, go ahead. He may want the car kept clean, go ahead. He may want to eat fried chicken three times a week, go ahead. Just look at Proverbs 31:27 and heed the advice.

Great reminders for all of us, Lori! We joke about the bonbons, too. I love what your girls asked you about what DO you do all day... as well as God's providence in helping them understand!
