Teenagers can keep you humble

Lately, I've been after the big girls to do their work with excellence. If you wipe the counters onto the floor, then sweep the floor; if you fold the laundry, match the socks too; when you dust, wipe underneath the stuff; etc. As it seems to happen, I messed up again. As I was cleaning something and spilled all over the floor, I heard some snickering. Thinking someone should have taken out the trash earlier, I looked up ready to give a lecture on respecting your parents when I saw the expression on Rachel and Hannah's faces. They were clearly amused. Hannah had whispered something about doing everything with excellence and Rachel thought it was funny. After seeing their faces, I couldn't help but laugh. I need to laugh more with the girls than I do, especially at myself. They really are trying. (Except when Lydia's hair was pulled up into "toenails" while she was still asleep. There is no way to get the part straight laying down.)

Yep, teenagers can keep you humble. They also have a lot of requests. What a wonderful blessing to to have a godly wife and lovely daughters.

Little girls often get their words mixed up. Pigtails get called toenails, shampoo becomes hairpoo, hairbows are elbows, and my favorite, underarms can be called underpits:)
