A Heart that Skips a Beat

"How can I change so that your heart skips a beat when you see me across a room?"  Ray asked me that question after we had a conversation with a lady that had been married for forty- two years. She had pointed out her husband to me to and said, "Isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen?" I said, "Yes, " but not because he truly was the cutest thing in the world, but because of the way she spoke of him.

When Ray asked me the question I had to think about that. He does all the things that the older lady had told us about her husband. He is thoughtful, plans surprises and does things just because he knows I would like them. What I am sure of is that the only thing that could change about our marriage is - me!

The Bible says that the older women are to teach the younger women to love their husbands. Now, you would think that I already love my husband, and I do, but obviously not enough. My heart should skip a beat more often than it does when he enters a room. I should speak more freely with others about how sweet he is to me. I need to remember to love him openly and freely, starting today.
