Now, Mary isn't known for her love of the outdoors. In fact, I have to make her go outside every day. And to get her to work in the garden is a lesson in patience and perseverance for me. She made a lot of fuss but here are a few of the comments I remember her making:
Hard work pays off in the future, but laziness pays off now.
This work encourages laziness.
If I were these plants I'd weed myself.
Why don't we encourage those people who grow vegetables by buying their stuff from the grocery store?
I don't think food from our garden tastes any better than that from the store. Let's just buy it.
By the way, Mary has enjoyed her garden fresh food as much as the rest of us.
