Training a Good Reader

There are all kinds of information out there on teaching children to read and to love it. Loving to read yourself and reading in front your children is one key way to get them to read. Also, it helps to have books laying around that they may be interested in. But, I really think that some children are hard wired to love reading. We've done basically the same thing with all of our kids to get them to love to read - hey, we even own a book store! But some of them love reading more than others. Here is a sample conversation I had recently with Mary. I say 'sample' because we've had conversations like this many times.

Mary - "Oh this book! This is such as great book! Jane Eyre is so good! Jane Austen is harder to read, but still this so good. Bronte` is such a good writer!"
Me - "Is Jane Eyre your favorite book now? What about the Mandie books."
"It's not like the Mandie books, they're still good but this is so well written!"
"Well, is Mandie still your favorite?"
"Yes, but so is this, and Stepping Heavenward, Persuasion, Anne of Green Gables, oh, and Ink Heart, Eight Cousins, Rose in Bloom, and all of the Louisa may Alcott short stories, ..." And she kept naming.

I can't keep up with her. She loves books! And relates everything in her life back to a certain book.
