Recharge

Ray's sermons and newspaper articles for the past few weeks have been about the theology of resting. As we took our family vacation we had to keep reminding ourselves not to just rest and relax, but to also recharge. We usually have our personal and family Bible times on vacation, only we were trying to make this vacation about renewing and recharging our tired brains. I don't know how successful we were but we had a great trip and are glad to be home and shake out some of the sand.

Something that kept reminding me of our need to relax was the birds on the beach. If you've seen them, you know what I mean. The cute little birds with the legs that bend backwards, scurrying back and forth poking their beaks in the sand. They dart here and there running from the waves, but trying to find treasures that the waves have washed ashore. Lydia and I wondered if they ever take a vacation to the North Georgia mountains.

One group of creatures we hope to miss every year is the jelly fish. The younger girls have been really afraid of them so Ray always tells them they might be taking their vacation to the mountains when we go to Florida. (They know he's joking.) This year three of the girls had real life evidence that they were doing their jobs at the beach. And yes - vinegar does help take the sting away.

We took tons of pictures as usual, did a few new things, and of course, kept some favorite long-standing traditions.
