I giggled when I heard the name of this book – Girls: Faults and Ideals. Being the mom of five girls and a girl myself, I see faults clearly everyday. Ideals? Well, there are plenty of wistful thoughts of what we should be – healthy, happy, pretty, neat, clean, and orderly... The list of both faults and ideals could go on and on. As I read through this book, my first thoughts were, “What about this sin and that attitude?” It’s easy for me to nitpick my own bad attitudes and sinful habits and forget the cross. But the ideal that sums up all ideals is godliness. It’s easy for me to nitpick my own bad attitudes and sinful habits and forget the cross. I keep going back to what I should be doing and not thinking of what Christ has already done. When I focus first on what God has accomplished for me through the gospel then my faults are washed in the river of His grace, they are transformed. Then I am able to pursue with maximum effort His call to pursue godliness. Keep a gospel saturated heart as you read this wonderful little book.
