There's A New Face Around Here

Some time back, a young man approached Ray about pursuing Rachel. After Ray spent some time talking to Adrian, he made this comment, "He loves to share his testimony and talk about the Lord." Adrian moved from Minnesota to work for a Christian ministry and seems to be committed to Christ.

Because of our close knit family and our commitment to protect the girls, anyone pursuing the girls will spend a lot of time with us. Adrian has fit so well into our family events and is a joy to be around. I even unofficially added him to the chores list. He has joined us for birthday celebrations, Valentine's Day, sports events, Sunday family time, back-yard ball games, and many family meals. Rachel and Adrian have taken different sisters out to places like the ice-skating rink, Ikea, shopping for baby ducks (NO, we don't want a duck), and the Varsity. They worked together on an amazing surprise for Ray and me by moving a bush I wanted moved and planting a great vine that climbs a trellis they painted and hung. Last night I walked into the house after church and found parts of my dishwasher all over the floor. Adrian had taken it apart to fix it. Wow!

I love watching the relationship between him and Rachel grow. They are proving their respect for Ray's authority and have been a great example to the other girls. I have always been so thankful for Rachel's commitment to guard her heart and protect herself. While they are allowed to be alone, we are still being very cautious. Our girls haven't ever been on dates alone before, so we are all in new territory now. They have been considerate of our time constraints and letting us know where they are all the time.

Their times alone have included things like :

  • a picnic at the park

  • Chipotle, Krispy Kreme

  • various local restaurants

  • window shopping at the outlet mall

  • Amicalola Falls

  • Edge of the World

  • swinging on our front porch

  • sitting in our living room on the sofa

  • sitting in our kitchen at the table or on the floor

  • sitting in our dining room at the table
Whether you call their relationship courting or dating, we are happy for them.

Wow..I am really delighted the way your family has taken to dating. Its especially hard to 'keep it clean' in young couples nowadays. And I admire and appreciate the way you have taken to your children interacting with kids of their age group, especially the opposite sex. God bless you and your entire family. :)
