Running

Years ago Ray played a little golf here and there with some friends. He found a few places that weren't terribly expensive and wanted me to go with him. After he asked several times and I never made any effort to go, he kind of gave up on the game. I don't know if he really wanted to play or just gave up for other reasons, but I never encouraged him in that. Later, I've learned that wives really need to be a part of their husbands' lives (understatement) and hobbies. It's great for us to show interest in what they are doing even if it isn't really that interesting to us. I feel like I could have shown a little interest in playing golf with Ray. On that note, I thought I should pick up running with him. He doesn't have any outside hobbies that I could join in except that, but I never thought I could run.
Now, I'm letting the cat out of the bag. I am trying to start running. I'm old, have never been a runner and making slow progress. I was trying secretly to add a little running in my walking time, but it seems like I'm not increasing very much. So, since accountability is a good motivator for me, I am putting it out here. The route I was walking took me about 29 minutes to walk, the quickest I've been able to run/walk it is 23 minutes, today it took 26. That seems almost like I might be going backwards. Anyway, I plan to keep trying and adding to the distance once I can run this whole route. Then maybe I'll look into how long it would take for me to build up enough distance to run a 5K or something like that. While I deal with sore toes and knees, odd cramps in my shins and now the cold weather, I am planning to keep trying. Who knows, I might even get to run with Ray one day.

From a very inconsistent barefoot runner, I say GO FOR IT, MRS. RHODES!

That's great!! How often are you running? Challenge yourself to run a little farther each time and before you know it - you will be running that 5K. Persevere - you can do it!!
