What it Takes to Send One Off

Rachel has left for the Summer to work at Camp Westminster as a wrangler and counselor. Other than when Rachel went to Honduras for a month, none of our children have been gone for real long periods of time so I have been dreading this day. It literally took three days to get her ready to leave. We did things like get her to cut Mary and Lydia's hair, get her dental, hair and chiropractor appointments, wash her car and make a dozen trips to the grocery store and Walmart. The culmination was a slumber party with the sisters last night. We watched two old movies, ate way too much candy, and had a great jumping contest. The pictures will show that Ray even got in on the fun. This morning we had Bible time and grilled hamburgers then sent her off with a lot of tears. After she left Mary and I went off to cry by ourselves. Even though she can't come home much this summer we'll get to see her a couple of times.

How sweet and so sad! I am surethey will miss having her around for the summer, but it may be good practice for if/when she ever marries. For now I am sure she is enjoying being a kid! I guess Ray is too, lol! Real neat!
