Old Salem
We got our annual trip to Old Salem, North Carolina this year even if it was short and sweet. We added some new things like Ray preaching at a church in Lexington and doing a book signing. But the traditional night walks, Mayberry ice cream, teapot pictures, kick ball in the field, Christmas shopping, and stop at a church to play on their playground still happened. One thing that will cause this year's trip to stand out is that our hotel accidentally over booked and moved us to a really nice hotel (for the same low price Ray negotiated years ago). The pictures on the slide show of the girls against the brick wall were taken inside of our room. Lydia got sick so she and Rachel spent one whole afternoon in the room resting. (Rachel actually had started reading To Have and To Hold and couldn't put it down.) Mary picked out this funny little pop up toy and all of the girls played with it the whole trip. Our trips are such a blessing to our family and reinforcing our girls relationships. They are becoming each others' best friends more every day.
