This year we celebrated Mary's birthday with an American Girl party. We went to the American Girl store and let her spend her birthday money from grandparents and she bought Felicity. Mary is already deep into the book along with her Nancy Drew books. (She is a big reader who has been known to even read during basketball games.) After we went shopping we had her cousins and friends over to play with all of the big girls' American Girl paraphernalia. They had a great time having tea parties, birthday parties, and changing dolls all afternoon. One of my favorite things for little girls to do is to play dolls because they are practicing one of their most important jobs - motherhood. If the party was any indication of the kind of mothers these girls will be, I'd say they will be great mothers. They topped the day off with a fancy dinner party and watching the Molly movie.
