I have started a love-hate relationship with a new book. It's called Keeping House: The Litany of Everyday Living by Margaret Kim Peterson. I started off feeling so guilty because she makes a very valid point that to be a keeper at home, you must be well... home. In my crazy schedule, I often find myself gone from home too often to really "keep" house. At first I thought the author was trying too hard to spiritualize housework, but she wasn't really. She was just doing a good job of giving the history of how housework has moved from ancient times to recent history to modern days. The author doesn't spend a whole chapter on keeping the house clean and why you should be able to eat off the floors. She says,"A primary objective for keeping house is to make room- room for connecting and reconnecting with other people and the rhythms of individual and common life: meals, rest, work, play."
I am convicted to continue through this book and see what I can do to be a better keeper at home.

Hi,
Thanks for your comment. I have enjoyed this book even though I haven't read any of it during the holidays. I opted for some light weight reading but will get back on it this week. Blessings to your family. I plan to read more on your blog soon.
