As a family we have certain traditions that haven't been broken in 16 years. A favorite of our family is the pumpkin farm. Every year we go to the pumpkin farm and the girls all pick out a small pumpkin. Sometimes we ride the hayride and get boiled peanuts and we always take lots of pictures.

We used to go to the apple farm on the same day but last year decided to go to a state park for a picnic instead. The past two years at there was really fun because we were able to walk on some trails and picnic in great places. There were a few grumblings that we didn't have to go this year. (How many pictures of us do we need with giant pumpkins anyway?) In the end we are all glad we went and look forward to next year. Traditions are a great way to build your family. They take time and some money but the joy they bring to your children is priceless.

We just got back from our annual trip to Bert's, Hillcrest, and Amicalola Falls. This year, we stayed overnight so we could add in a trip to Dahlonega, as well. We've made this trek from McDonough for the last five years (after "accidentally" stumbling upon these places one fall), and it is a favorite family tradition. We enjoy bringing cider and donuts home from Hillcrest and freezing them for more enjoyment once fall weather really hits down here.
The experience isn't complete until we bring our pumpkins home and make a fall display in our yard. We usually include a couple of bales of hay and at least one harvest man (nicknamed "Ian McDonald"). Due to general busy-ness, we skipped that step last year. The kids have spoken -- Ian will be back this year!
It's all just a reminder to us to thank the Lord for His faithful care for us throughout the year, as well as for our family.
Thanks for sharing!

Where are the Florida Gator shirts?!
I'll use the words that all of my children knew by 18 months, "Boo, Gatahs!"
