We are so looking forward to a visit from our dearest friends next week. The Bailey's come from Florida maybe once a year. Several years ago when they came we all went to Home Depot to pick out flowers for my front flower bed. My four children(at that time) and their four picked out all kinds of annuals and planted them randomly through the bed. We enjoyed those plants that lived for the summer and never thought of them again until recently. About a month ago I noticed a flower coming up where two of their girls had planted. Right now it has blooms an inch and a half across in bright orange. What is so amazing is that there are sprigs of this same flower all over the flower bed with other colors and I thought it wasn't an annual. God is so good to give us tangible reminders of special people.
I have trees and and plants all over our yard that are full grown, healthy and wonderful reminders of sweet friends. Trees and impatiens from the Normans; canas and forsythia from the Sextons; forsythia, daylilies, and the most beautiful spruce trees from the Strawns are among my favorite gifts in our yard.
