How Consistent Am I?

We are all a bundle of inconsistencies. Because of tradition, ignorance or just plain preferences, we often contradict ourselves. While discussing a particular Bible verse recently, we were talking about how someone abides by one part of the verse but not the other. As we continued the discussion, my wise son-in-law pointed out that we were just as inconsistent as anyone else. We can't say, "Why do you follow this part of the verse but not that part?" We are diligent to abide by the first part but haven't even examined the second, yet we were complaining about someone else doing the same thing.

I had a list of inconsistencies that people that I know are guilty of but my daughter said that I shouldn't post them because that might be offensive. So I won't publish them, I'm not even going to publish the actual verse that led to this discussion. But, the next time you complain about a liberty that someone takes, think about your own life and see where you stand.
Matthew 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
