The Flu

As a small child, I think I was sick a lot. But when I got the flu several years ago, that was the sickest I had been as far as I could remember.  Mary also had the flu at the same time, but I don't even remember how sick she was.

Well, the past two days have been a reminder of what the flu does to a body. Only this time it's the smallest little body in our house. Abigail's fever went really high in a few short hours and stayed high. She only wanted to be held or rocked and mostly whimpered in and out of sleeping. For a full day, the only thing she ate or drank was what we forced in her with a dropper. It was heart breaking to see her so sick.

We took her right to the doctor because the weekend was coming and we were planning a trip on Monday. I'm so glad we did. She tested positive for the flu and the doctor started her (and everyone else) on Tamiflu immediately.  She slept much better last night and hasn't had to have fever medicine for about twelve hours. As she is resting here beside me I am again thanking the Lord that He is the great Healer.

Oh, Lori, I'm so glad that you were able to head this off early. It's so hard to see our children sick, but even hard when we are sick ourselves. Hope you have a good trip and everyone stays healthy!
