When I realized how little scripture memory I had to draw on for meditation I set out to do better. I thought I was doing "good enough".  Our church is memorizing Psalm 119 together and I was tracking along with the children okay- or so I thought. As it turned out, all I knew was a random phrase here and there.  This past week has been very eye opening for me. First I thought, I'm too old to "really" memorize exactly, but I should be able to get the idea. Then I started working on it. The more I worked the easier it became.  The last five verses that I memorized were definitely easier than the first five. The brain is like so many other muscles, the more it  is worked, the stronger it gets. Now, I have the the first twenty-five verses of Psalm 119 hidden in my heart to meditate on that I might not sin against God. As we go through the year with the church, I pray that we will all be able to see fruit from meditating on God's Word. I have a long ways to go, but I'm committed to keeping on it.
