This past weekend Ray wanted to run a half marathon in Nashville so he and I made a date of it, with Abigail, of course. It was the first get away we've had in a while and we had great time. It's important for couples to spend a lot of uninterrupted time together as often as possible. As your children come along and grow, they don't need to be the center of your attention. There are times when they need to be put first and taken care of, but for the most part your marriage should be front and center. After all, the goal for your children is to grow up and leave your home. If they've been central for their whole lives, then what do you have when they leave? ... A marriage that will need to be rebuilt. There needs to be time to talk, hold hands and even be quiet together. I am so thankful that Abigail was happy the whole weekend so that we could enjoy that time. She slept soundly in the car and was very cooperative in the restaurants, which she doesn't have a good track record in either of those places.
