A Moment of Tranquility

It was a brief moment, but it was tranquil. There isn't much quiet in our house because of the way the rooms are located and the lack of insulation. I was soaking and reading in the tub. From the den, I could hear Ray reading Northwoods to Mary and Lydia; Rachel was reading to Adrian in the basement (as it just so happens - while he was installing insulation); and I knew that Sarah was sitting at the kitchen table doing history. I listened to the sounds for a few moments and went back to my book. About the time I noticed that my water was getting chilly, I realized that my "tranquility" had changed. There was a piano playing, a little girl speaking in a British accent, tub water running upstairs, Ray looking for something (very loudly), and hammering on the ceiling directly below my bathtub. That was my cue, to get out of the tub. It may no longer have been the hushed sounds of reading, but it was still my home and I was thankful for almost everyone being here. And it was reminder to pray for Hannah, who was at that very moment on her way to Baltimore for a cross country meet.
