Feminine Appeal by Carolyn Mahaney

The ladies of our church are going through Feminine Appeal together and I am so convicted. (I usually am when I read anything of value.) One of the study questions suggested we ask our husbands what of the seven virtues in Titus 2:4 we need to work on the most. When I finally got around to asking Ray's first off the cuff response...

"I like peace too much to answer that one." Then he started stuttering and saying, "Ohh, uhh, I meant to say you don't need to work on any of those, you're great at everyone of them." Yeah, right. I told him not to say anything else about it until he had time to think about his response.

His first response is probably closer to the truth than I would like to admit. Anyone who knows me very well, knows that I'm afraid of my own sin. I don't want anyone else telling me about my sin, who does? I am aware that sin reigns too often in me and I do try to rid myself of it. The sins I see are sometimes so overwhelming that I am afraid that there are even greater ones lurking but obvious to others. But I also know I need other godly people to be honest with me and tell me the truth.

Looking at this list - ask your husband what is it that he sees that you need to work on most. Then search the scriptures to find out biblical ways to do that.
  • love your husband
  • love your children
  • be self-controlled
  • be pure
  • work at home
  • be kind
  • be submissive to your own husband
I'm still waiting on Ray's response, and... depending on what he says, I may or may not get back to you on that :)
