I have looked at hundreds of magazines and thought at times that I could use some of the ideas, then real life enters, and it hits my bedroom with a vengeance. The air is out downstairs in Ray's office so he is spending most of his work time in the chair in our room, along with all of his paraphernalia. And the stacks of stuff every where...? There is a huge pile for Goodwill, so that doesn't make things as peaceful as I'd like. Then there is the location of our room- it's right off the main traffic of our house so there is a lot of noise going by. Lately, I have used the Bailey trick and have been running a fan to block the noise, which is something you never see in the magazine pictures. Even with all of the extras in there, I still love to be there. And in November, it will take on a whole new life with the addition of a crib and a Baby's things.
Nothing in my house is really magazine ready, but I love to spend time creating a place where my family loves to live, which is why we have a home.

Lori, you have a beautiful home and (at least when I was there) it's decorated in a very warm and inviting way. If you ever post pictures of it, I'd love to link to it from my home decor blog!
Just had to comment on making your bedroom a serene place...painted mine cream and added touches of soft blue, but then life happens and the chair has laundry, my books are in a pile (I read about 4 at a time!) and so it goes...I can so relate (except for the baby stuff part!)
Thank you for such a lovely blog...life happens here unlike in a magazine, where it is all staged and perfect and I prefer it that way. I think God prefers it that way, too~
Life is definitely happening in this home and I am thankful for that!
