Wouldn't it be nice if we could always live at camp? Rachel and Hannah have fantasies of how everything in life is so wonderful at camp. (They have been working at Camp Westminster in the summer breaks.) Then, alas, they have to come home to the real world.
This past weekend, when I picked up Sarah from winter camp and she was talking about the same sort of thing. Then she made this comment, "With two great sermons a day, hanging with close friends, in a safe environment... why wouldn't life be great?"
God has called us to live IN this world, but not be OF this world. (Read Romans 12:2 or I Corinthians 2:12.) Life would be great if we were secluded with those we love, study God's Word as much as we wanted and spend time in uninterrupted prayer. But that would mean we were dead, because that only happens in Heaven. So for now, we can enjoy the brief moments that are granted for our edification. And when God calls us to do the hard work of living in society, hopefully we can have the testimony of 2 Corinthians 1:12 For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you. And remember the verse our family has been dwelling on this week - Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Pictures above are Rachel with her wranglers last year and Hannah dressed for cowboy day.
