Ministry, Part 2

Scripture gives us plenty of proof to minister. James 1:27 is very clear what Christians should be doing. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphansand widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. How does this look? Am I to be at the orphanages and homes of widows every day? Maybe. But I think the intent of this passage is more than visiting those in need of comfort. It is a daily living for Christ and seeking to help others. James 1 begins with dealing with your own heart. James sets it straight of how our hearts ought to be from the beginning. 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. We have the perfect source to set our hearts ready to minister. I think it is very appropriate that chapter one ends with verse twenty-seven. Meditating on this more....
