Wolfgang

What do you do when you think the love of your daughter's life is dying? Well, you cry with her and pray. Even though he's a horse, you pray. One of the sweetest things I've seen Ray do for Rachel is lay his hands on Wolfgang's head and pray for him. Yesterday we got the call that Wolfgang was down and we needed to come. After several hours with the veterinarian and Nana Jarrard care, he was back on his feet and trotting around. Rachel spent the night with him and he is much improved. It looks like Wolfgang had a bad case of colic and apparently he thought he was dying too.
Rachel was given Wolfgang when she was about eleven or twelve and the rescue barn where she was working for her lessons closed. I am sure that horse has helped protect her heart. When a young girl has to work with an animal and care for him so much she doesn't have any inclination to chase boys. Besides, at that age I had been working hard to tell her boys had cooties. (I had to stop telling the girls that when I realized that they were actually going to have to marry one of those boys one day.) I'm not saying the best way to protect your daughter's heart is to get her a horse, but it sure helped us.
