Help Plan Our Vacation

We recently found out that we will get to visit the Williamsburg, VA area very soon. We may even drive into D.C. for a day. If you had limited time and resources what would be the one place you would go to if you had a chance?

hmmmm! In 8th grade we went to DC and they dragged us to more places than I can remember! My top picks were:
The Holocaust Museum (free!)
The Smithsonian (free!)
George Washington's Estate (with real working period farm! free!)
Changing of the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier's (free!)

There was so much more and all were very neat, but these are the ones that stood out at thirteen years old. Oh boy, you guys will have a great trip, I'm sure!!!

Hi guys, we look forward to meeting you.
My name is Ole (Danish) and I am a part of Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, in Mathews, VA.
I just received some info telling a little about the Rhodes-family and thought I would stop by your blog.
I recently went to D.C. for the first time,and one advice I would like to pass on is; drop your vehicle at a Metro Station and take a ride in to the Smithsonian. If you wait till 9am you can buy a Day Ticket for the Metro and take all the rides you desire, the price is very reasonable compared to a single ticket, especially if you by mistake get off at the wrong station and have to take a ride back....
Once you are in the Smithsonian area, you can walk around to the different sight-seeings; The Monument, The White House, and all the Museums.
From The Monument, you can see the Capitol, and next to The Capitol you have all kinds of interesting museums like; Air and Space, Native Indian, Botanical and so much more....I was surprised by the ticket price to Air and Space....FREE!
By Metro again, you can get pretty close to The National Cathedral, just a small walk after you jump off...i think it is the Yellow Line..
Now that was a lot of talk (writing) I just wanted to let you all know, we are excited to meet you and hope you will have a pleasant stay.

By His Grace,
your brother in Christ;
Ole Albert
