A Current Book

As we are getting back in the swing of the school days, I wanted to share something new and fun we are trying this year. Every week along with their regular school work the girls will work on their "current" books. We let them pick out a journal type book to use for recording their current weekly assignments. They will be recording their Scripture memory, a poem and a hymn to memorize, a drawing from God's Creation, and a current event in today's history. I'll try to post a side note what we are memorizing to try to hold us all accountable to keep it up. This week was pretty easy to start with and also very interesting what they chose as news worthy information. Sarah (no surprise here) went with sports and wrote on the Olympics and Hannah (no surprise here either) chose politics and wrote on the options of vice presidential running mates.

How did you start your girls out with homeschooling when they were under school age. Joseph is going on 4 in Oct. and I really want to be teaching him some things to get ahead, but Thomas(2 1/2) is not able to follow and interupts our work! We are just reading "Shepherding a Child's Heart" and learning how to train the heart but sometimes it is hard to train them at the same time because their slight age difference. Joseph has regressed due to this. Any suggestions?
