and the Lord takes away. About four years ago the power company told us that they would be removing every tree in our front yard as they were planted on their easement. The day they told us I ran in the house crying like a baby. Ray held them off that day, but they returned this week. When we moved to our one acre "ponderosa" there was one persimmon tree (thankfully it died and was removed), so we started planting immediately. We planted a nice mix of evergreens and deciduous trees with great fall colors. I have grown too attached to our trees. They blocked the view into my neighbors' garages and I could keep the blinds open all the time. Also, they helped block the wind and provide great hideouts for kids and animals. I can't tell you how many times we spied on birds from the bedroom windows. The tree cutters were very sympathetic and spared the trees closest to the house but did take out four of the biggest. They left us with a nice pile of mulch that Rachel has been trying to conquer for several days and a gift certificate to Home Depot to buy short trees or bushes.
