Notes From Rachel

Here are few excerpts from Rachel over the past couple of days. Hopefully we can get some pictures soon.

You would love the yard. There are pineapple plants, banana trees, coconut trees, avocado trees, and beautiful flowers everywhere. I took a picture of a really big scorpion they found inside. It was found after I went to bed, so they saved it for me to see....

This morning Natalie and I went on a walk, about 3-4 miles, up this huge hill, like a mountain...overlooking the water, then went down to the beach and walked in the water. I walked a mile home barefoot over gravel...That was fun....THEN I helped a little with homeschool stuff this morning. There's nothing like washing dishes overlooking bright green grass, tropical flowers, and the Caribbean! That's basically what I have done today, tonight I'm cooking supper and then we are all going to youth group. Tomorrow I'm going to try and go to the Honduran elementary school. One of the missionaries goes there 2-3 times a week, so hopefully I can start going too.

We walked down to one of the elementary schools in a nearby village to sing and teach them. That was so fun, the little kids are beautiful. I danced with this very very little boy, he was sooo cute. I was able to talk to the kids a little, IN SPANISH.
Just try to picture a public school with tons of kids belting out Holy, Holy, Holy...that would never happen in the states, but here they know all the words and sing at the top of their lungs-IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
I'm still really hot-and a little sunburned, but it's ok.
